Paul makes the point even sharper. He writes that we are justified — made right, declared righteous — through faith, not by anything we’ve done to earn it. Not by our own effort to stay afloat. Not by scrubbing the baking soda out ourselves. The rising happens because of what’s poured in, not because of what the corn does.

The story of Jacob’s ladder reminds us that God is actively at work, even when we cannot see it. Just as Jacob trusted God’s promises while facing uncertainty, we are called to trust that God remains in control as righteousness and wickedness exist side by side in this world.

Jesus meets you exactly where you are—

physically, emotionally, and spiritually—offering grace and restoration without requiring you to "get it all together" first. He enters your messes, struggles, and doubts to bring healing, companionship, and transformation, rather than waiting for you to measure up. 

The sermon reminds us that the gift of Jesus Christ is freely given, offered in love, and meant to be embraced daily—not ignored, discarded, or forgotten—so that it may continue to give life now and for eternity.

This Christmas, may we stand in awe of the child in the manger—and like Mary, quietly reflect on what it means that God chose humility over power, presence over distance, and love over fear. True worship begins in wonder, but it is completed in ponder.

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the Lord is good, and his faithful love endures forever; his faithfulness, through all generations“.
