Fear Not, I Am with You
Fear Not, I Am with You
Today’s children’s message is about faith. Even though we may not see God’s physical form daily, we still know he is there.
What are some things we know are there but do not see?
Example: Air via wind.
Today, we saw the apparent disappearance of a glass stirring rod in oil, even though it was visible in water. Similarly, we see the evident disappearance of clear orbies in water, even though they can be felt when we put our hand in water.
As with orbies, the faithful can feel God's presence and hand in their lives despite God's apparent invisibility.
In the Bible, faith is often described as believing in and trusting in things unseen, especially God and His promises. It's the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen, highlighting a trust that extends beyond what can be physically perceived.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Faith and the Invisible Realm:
Hebrews 11:1:This verse defines faith as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". It emphasizes that faith is not just wishful thinking, but a confident expectation and a tangible assurance about what is not yet visible.
Walking by faith, not by sight:The Bible encourages believers to live by faith, meaning they rely on God's word and promises rather than solely on what their physical senses can perceive. This is exemplified in Hebrews 11:27, where Moses is said to have endured because he "saw him who is invisible".
Creation as evidence of the invisible:According to Hebrews 11:3, the very existence of the universe, created by God's word, demonstrates the power of the invisible. The visible world is seen as evidence of an unseen, divine creator.
God's invisible nature:God himself is often described as invisible (1 Timothy 1:17; Colossians 1:15), further emphasizing the importance of faith in understanding and relating to Him.
The Role of Faith:
Relating to the unseen:Faith connects believers to the eternal, invisible realm of God's kingdom and His promises.
Overcoming challenges:According to a video on YouTube, Moses's ability to persevere in difficult circumstances was rooted in his faith in the invisible God.
Transforming the mind:According to BibleRef.com, Romans 12:2 encourages believers to have their minds renewed so they can understand God's will, which often requires faith in the unseen.
Prioritizing the spiritual:According to Bible Hub, 2 Corinthians 4:18 reminds believers to focus on the eternal rather than the temporary things of this world.
In essence, biblical faith is not a blind leap into the unknown, but a confident trust in God and His promises, even when they are not immediately visible or tangible. It is a way of life that prioritizes the unseen realities of God's kingdom and His eternal purposes.
