Present Hope, Future Hope

Beatitude noun

a state of utmost bliss

Christianity : any of the declarations made in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:3–12) beginning with "Blessed are"

Beatitude is a word that means "supreme blessedness." The Church tells us, for instance, that the saints in Heaven live in a state of perpetual beatitude. Most of the time, however, when people use the word they are referring to the Eight Beatitudes, which were delivered by Jesus Christ to His disciples during His Sermon on the Mount.

The Beatitudes provide us hope for the present and the future!

Mathew 5-11

True Happiness ( The (8) Beatitudes)

3 “Happy (Blessed) are those who know they are spiritually poor;
    the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!
4 “Happy (Blessed) are those who mourn;
    God will comfort them!
5 “Happy are those who are humble;
    they will receive what God has promised!
6 “Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires;
    God will satisfy them fully!
7 “Happy are those who are merciful to others;
    God will be merciful to them!
8 “Happy are the pure in heart;
    they will see God!
9 “Happy are those who work for peace;
    God will call them his children!
10 “Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires;
    the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!

11 “Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted.

We often read the Beatitudes and think that they apply to the “saints”… but what Jesus intends for us all to be saints…

****************************************************

We don’t need to just pray for the humble, for the peace makers for the spiritually poor, we need to recognize that many of us Are them…. We need to be the peace makers in our community, and strive to have greatest desire in doing what God requires!

Psalm 1-41

Good News Translation

BOOK ONE

True Happiness

1 Happy are those

who reject the advice of evil people,

who do not follow the example of sinners

or join those who have no use for God.

2 Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord,

and they study it day and night.

3 They are like trees that grow beside a stream,

that bear fruit at the right time,

and whose leaves do not dry up.

They succeed in everything they do.

4 But evil people are not like this at all;

they are like straw that the wind blows away.

5 Sinners will be condemned by God

and kept apart from God's own people.

6 The righteous are guided and protected by the Lord,

but the evil are on the way to their doom.
